The Royal Rangers work is split into four age groups. The aim is to take account of the differing needs of each age group at the different stages of development.

As a Christian scouting-type organisation based on the secure foundation of Christian values and scouting principles, we want to motivate Royal Rangers to lead forward-looking, dynamic and adventurous lives. Lives lived in an attitude of respect for life, which involves both good stewardship of the environment as well as responsible social action. Our commitment as Christian scouts is expressed in our pledge that, with God's help, we will do our best to serve God, our church and our fellow-men. That’s why we think it is important for young people to experience the Christian life outside the denominational context and see it as a lifestyle which builds bridges and forges links between people.
